The Animist was founded in late 2018 by drummer Jason Drossis (ex-Ellipsis, Transcend the Skies) and guitarist Evan Holly (ex-Behaviour), in an endeavour to create a unique intersection of metal.
Combining complex and technical compositions interlaced with fast tempos, low tunings, and a progressive nature, they strive to create music that is as equally hook-laden and catchy as it is aggressive in nature.
During the writing process for their debut EP "Matriarch Aeternum", the line-up was further filled out with the addition of guitarist Carl Pike (Mount Abora) and vocalist Kyle Koloszar (Bingeninja).
The four are already in the midst of working on their follow-up sophomore album, and are looking forward to unleashing their brand of sonic fury upon the world.
