The Barton Brothers are a piano-centric songwriting duo, drawing influences from Sara Bareilles, Ben Folds, and Vulfpeck along with musical theater and Top 40. Classically trained pianists and childhood choir nerds, Jack and Dan grew up sharing stereos, piano teachers, and bunk beds, developing a familiar musical vocabulary from the beginning.
From 2012-2016, Jack pursued musical theater in Northern Colorado while Dan was composing and producing for short films and advertising in New York City. Craving collaboration and a fresh start, they brought together their shared tastes and varying skillsets to create genre bending piano-driven pop.
At the other end of the spectrum, their latest release, Oak & Ivory, is a collection of contemporary classical solo piano pieces. Go figure.
