A dark-hued electronic pop duo with a strong new wave feel, the Beat Escape is the work of Montreal-based musicians Adam Ohr and Patrick Lee. The two friends bonded in a university video classes crafting abstract psychedelic imagery, then later cut their teeth DJ'ing sets around Montreal and writing music together. Ohr previously found success as part of Footprintz, another Montreal electronic act with a like-minded aesthetic. When that project began to slow down, he and Lee pooled their equipment into a studio space together and began recording as the Beat Escape. Signing with the Bella Union label, they released their debut EP in 2016. They spent the following year in their studio crafting their debut LP, which was then sent to Finland to be mixed by DJ/producer Jori Hulkkonen.
