The Blacktones was born in Cagliari, on March of 2011 as an instrumental band, from an idea of Sergio Boi and Gianni Farci.
After some gigs, the line-up changes with the entering of Maurizio Mura on drums (<a href="spotify:artist:5FE4YuJ5zxK5XWz3Hwgiab" data-name="Elepharmers">Elepharmers</a>), and Simone Utzeri on vocals.
Their first Ep "Distorterd Reality" was released on June 2012. On February 2014 Simone left the band, replaced by Aaron Tolu (<a href="spotify:artist:4tj4o0GVQuYEZZap729WT3" data-name="Shardana">Shardana</a>).
With Aaron the band reprises the live activity (Support band for <a href="spotify:artist:10YNQq86z4shHwDSymTyWc" data-name="Cancer Bats">Cancer Bats</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:3nhxXtHwC2TookQyqQlFK1" data-name="Biohazard">Biohazard</a>) and the production of the new album, recorded and mixed at V-Studio by Villy Cocco and Mastered at Audio Siege Studios by Brad Boatright.
”The Day We Shut Down The Sun” is the band’s last record out via Sliptrick Records on November 21st, 2017, recorded at V-Studio in Cagliari, Mixed by Jim Pinder at Treehouse Studio and mastered by Brad Boatright.
In the record we can notice the insertion of a second guitar, played by Paolo Mulas (<a href="spotify:artist:3r5OUvV7YglN2wYE70e5Vf" data-name="Acts of Tragedy">Acts of Tragedy</a>) member of the band since 2015. In 2019 the band returns to the studio for a new album, releasing in the meantime the digital single Minnesota, along with a video in 2020.
in 2023 the band signs for Sleaszy Rider Records, which will publish the new album, scheduled for the second half of 2024.
