The Book Thieves are Legoman and Ollie Mac; two rappers who met each other on the Oxford scene in the mid-2000s. It was at the legendary Oxford venue, The Cellar, where Legoman first saw Ollie Mac on the open mic, suggested they formed a new group and The Book Thieves were born. Recording began between 2010 and 2011 when their first project In Spite of Everything… was released. This was well reviewed and led to numerous promoters and producers reaching out. The follow up Why Do We Do This Everyday? released in 2012 firmly put The Book Thieves on the map.
By now, TBT were performing up and down the country as well as on the continent. It was during this period where the duo joined Boom Bap Professionals. Getting Close to Midnight was released in 2014 and received high acclaim. During the following years, The Book Thieves performed at Boom Bap Festival for the third time as well as supporting Hip Hop legends such as Redman and Method Man, Mobb Deep, MOP, Dead Prez and the Jungle Brothers. In 2016, The Book Thieves took a break from making music when Legoman moved to Kenya. However, the duo are back in the studio and there is now a plan to release a new project in the not too distant future.
