After a life changing encounter that prevented Joe Attwater from taking his life, he felt compelled to begin writing songs about life's battles. 'Walking on water' was the first song, inspired by 'an intense cry from an absolute broken soul', after reading how Peter cried out in a terrible storm, 'Lord, if that is you, call me to come to you!' (Matthew 14:22-33).
Joe, Ryan Bull, and Simon Beech performed 'Walking on Water' live at Armadale Congregational Church where Pastor Jim Bosma became overwhelmed upon hearing it, and wept, giving praise to God. Ben Gaebler captured some tracks in his home studio, but many of the recordings got archived. Coincidentally, everyone involved faced their own individual storms, including Joe's long battle with kidney cancer. Paul Fricker and Jim prayed for Joe, and Jim went on into glory after battling his own illness. Part of Joe's bucket list was to sit down with vocalist Ryan Bull and 'finish what we started' resurrecting the songs to leave an album behind for his children, who by now had spent half of their lives seeing their dad fighting cancer. Joe and Ryan met with Sound engineer Simon Giles, who was crucial in bringing all the fragments back together, mixing levels, and enhancing sound immensely. Joe says the two Simons (Giles & Beech) were a huge part of his healing process, along with his beloved wife, Joline, and five children who prayed for him every day. May these songs help to save souls.
