The Citradels

<a href="spotify:artist:4EzVFkSCXQv7W0oxiKJsim" data-name="The Citradels">The Citradels</a> are a 5 piece band from Melbourne, Australia, born out of a love for 60s garage and psych in late 2010. Band leader Sunny started the group in Geelong as an outlet for his bedroom recordings, but the group did not last beyond a few gigs and some demo recordings. Upon moving to Melbourne, band members frequently came and went before a consistent lineup was established and the band began to play regular shows. The Citradels then committed to writing, recording, producing and releasing their music independently. Within just over a year, they had three albums under their belt and were gaining a small following in Melbourne and abroad. Their early sound was described as ‘drone n roll’ and was atmospheric with a focus on simplicity, incorporating shoegaze and dream-pop influences. Throughout many other sonic explorations over time, The Citradels&#39; preceding releases gradually displayed an increased focus on songwriting, dialling back their usual reverb-drenched sound, improving their recording and production techniques and incorporating compositions from all members. Their music matured to include more complex writing, 60s sunshine pop influences and a new emphasis on vocal harmony. The Citradels 9th album “Fuck The Hits: Vol. 1” sees the band again changing up their recording process and musical style once again. The culmination of roughly 18 months work, the album intermingles 60s pop harmony and structures with synthesis and dense soundscapes.
