The Click

Brooklyn-based production & songwriting collective The Click has a simple goal: to capture the diversity of their experience in a polished pop package. From Bob Marley to The Black Keys to OutKast, Guyanese-raised producer Jesse Taylor and South African/ Swazi songwriter Afika Nx list our generation’s most venerable songwriters as their inspiration, and more recently as their competition. The two say that The Click was born out of a passion for artistry, quality, and connection, and have a story to match the mission statement.

Says Taylor of the night he connected with Afika, “I was living in an amazing studio and literally had just checked Bands in Town for a show to check out, saw Afika and thought ‘Hm… This sounds interesting.’” After attending Afika’s concert, the two exchanged contact information with plans of collaborating. It would be a serendipitous meeting, however, that ultimately brought the two into the studio together: when hired to consult and produce for an emerging R&B artist, Afika unknowingly found himself knocking on the door to the studio that Taylor called his home. The stars aligned and the collaboration proved fruitful, and the two began writing consistently with the idea make whatever music they were vibing with at the time.
