“Other than loving, I choose destroying.”
The Crush are a four-piece band from Hong Kong, consisting of Camille (vocals/synths), Hin (guitars), Kuro (bass), and Wilson (drums).
They are no strangers to seclusion, isolation, and desolation. Hidden away in one of Hong Kong’s many run-down industrial buildings - a diamond in the rough - The Crush are moulded by the pressure and crush of societal expectations, bleeding into their creations, their outlook, and their art. Their way of writing music is also very in-the-moment; some songs originated from jam sessions and directly translated onto the record. As a result, you’ll find their music dotted with social commentary and critique, the rejection of materialism, and the disillusionment of the world, creating an inviting cocoon with their music that you could insulate yourself from the world, even if it’s just for a minute.
Formed in early 2021, The Crush quickly established themselves within the Hong Kong underground music scene, producing mesmerising and psychedelic live sets. They sold out local venues just weeks after their formation, playing alongside local favourites such as Arches and Wellsaid. Their dark and brooding debut effort, “Valentine”, was released in early 2022, with Spotify editors and curators immediately picking up fan-favourite track “Chloé” for their playlists.
Following the theme of naming releases with seasonal influence, the bands’ debut full-length, “Winter Veil”, was released on Christmas Day.
