The Decibelles are Dartmouth College's oldest all-female a cappella group, usually consisting of 14-18 members. We arrange all of our own music and perform songs from a variety of genres, including modern pop, classic rock, Dartmouth traditionals, oldies, and pretty much anything and everything in between!
Founded in 1974 by Jody Hill, the group began as "The Dartmouth Distractions," an extension of the Dartmouth Glee Club. Two years later, the group changed its name to "Woodswind" and a few years after changed once more to the "Dartmouth Decibelles." Over 40 years and numerous recorded albums later, the Decibelles are a group of ladies who still love singing together, fondly called the "Decis" by their peers.
