The Depths We Explored is a post-rock band with ambient and shoegaze hints created by Dante Oliva in Copenhagen (Denmark) .
Both lyrics and music are inspired by religious books, esotericism, mythology and the tradition of sacred music in its different variants. The Depths We Explored makes long length tracks in a dynamic style from which introspective atmospheres can be evoked.
The scope of musical influences is wide, but some relevant ones might be: early Pink Floyd, early King Crimson, early Kraftwerk, Godspeed You Black Emperor, Sigur Rós, Mogwai, Paradise Lost, PG. Lost, Cocteau Twins, Beach House, Claude Debussy, Erik Satie. The band has also been influenced by poets as Vallejo, Rimbaud, Baudelaire, and some film directors with surrealistic hints as Herzog, Fellini or Tarkovsky.
The Depths We Explored's name is inspired by the Book of Job, chapter 38:
“Hast thou entered into the springs of the sea?
Or hast thou walked in the search of the depth?
Have the gates of death been opened unto thee?
Or hast thou seen the doors of the shadow of death?
Hast thou perceived the breadth of the earth?
Declare if thou knowest it all.”
