Seldom seen by day, the Empty Mirrors specialize in quirkily varied and sometimes dark indie/alt-pop and can't seem to choose between guitars and synths. We tell stories you’ve never heard. We take you to places you’ve never been. You might feel a little wobbly afterwards, but it’ll probably pass.
We've been described as purveyors of "new wave curiosity pop" by one writer and as "like the Pet Shop Boys going goth" by another. Whatever the truth, we're irredeemably retro, taking particular inspiration from the Cure, the Pixies, the Smiths, PJ Harvey, Siouxsie and the Banshees, the lyrical genius of Leonard Cohen and Suzanne Vega, and the 90s trip hop scene. We’re not afraid to do strange things to your head, but we’re not afraid of pop either.
The Empty Mirrors almost always work in collaboration with other artists, in particular Jenny Stevens, Robert Severin and Bruno Rocha.
