When The Florines released their first single "Save Me" in November 2017, rock fans, radio people and festival organizers in Denmark opened up their ears. A young band had suddenly appeared with a catchy tune. Melodic rock songs have become increasingly rare since electro-combos became popular.
But the tide is turning. Bands like The Florines are reinterpreting the music of the 60s and 70s, when the guitar was still the dominant instrument in most bands, and a good melody with interesting lyrics still counted for something. The band from Aalborg meets these criteria. Together with Søren Christensen from The Blue Van, The Florines have recorded seven songs and each one is better than the other. What’s more, the quartet’s vocalist Darko Pop has a strong voice and the charisma you need to front a band.
