Back in the 1980s, in the UK East Midlands (think Robin Hood country and the Peak District), four rock-loving coalminers - rock MUSIC that is - formed a band. They started out performing covers of indie, punk and rock classics but soon got taken over by personal issues and politics. This first manifested itself in them changing the lyrics to the songs they were playing, then they started to sing in their local dialect. The final stage was to start recording these new, 'modern takes' on said classics - and share them on streaming and social media sites. Et voilà! And you never know, they might throw in an occasional 'faithful' cover (original lyrics, but in broad Derbyshire) or even a rate proper original song. Vocalist Paul Fownes likes to do some of his own stuff, now and then. Clever git. Well, the old fart DOES have 40 years' worth of material... Latterly, marital breakups and anger-management issues caused some interesting song/lyric choices. All good, light-hearted fun though.
