The Gazetteers

The Gazetteers were put together in 2002 by former <a href="spotify:artist:73xtBqMvfcwnsYcNZQ2kNY">Vehicle Flips</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:5jW4fLn0sGbLWZbfscZ2Ic">Wimp Factor 14</a> member Frank Boscoe. Teaming up with Steve Silverstein (<a href="spotify:artist:5eHcWD0PLT5mPTyfm1bxL2">Christmas Decorations</a>) and Rob Christiansen (<a href="spotify:artist:55RfvuqUR7N0Nhywq4f4Yx">Sisterhood of Convoluted Thinkers</a>), Boscoe whipped up an album's worth of wry, angular tunes that welcomed comparisons to artists like <a href="spotify:artist:6hkch2KhRl0tywpeVK5xR5">Jonathan Richman</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:3inCNiUr4R6XQ3W43s9Aqi">Pavement</a>, not to mention <a href="spotify:artist:5jW4fLn0sGbLWZbfscZ2Ic">Wimp Factor 14</a>. The Gazetteers' debut full-length, the aptly named Territory Songs (Boscoe holds a PhD in geography), was released on the Portland, OR-based label Magic Marker that summer.
