The Genuines were a four piece jazz group led by the late Mack Mckenzie (bass guitar), on drums Ian Herman, on guitar Gerard O'Brian and Hilton Schilder (keyboards). Later Herman was replaced by Jack Momple on drums. They were based in South Africa and took inspiration from the Cape music styles of the Carnival Parades and the Cape Jazz scene.
