The Gizmos were an American punk band formed in Bloomington, Indiana in 1976. The original group was founded by rock writers Ken Highland and Eddie Flowers, who along with Indiana University student Ted Niemiec released three 7-inch EPs on Gulcher Records: The Gizmos, Amerika First, and Gizmos World Tour. Subsequently, Niemiec recruited Dale Lawrence, Billy Nightshade, and Shadow Myers for a new Gizmos lineup, which released the Never Mind The Sex Pistols Here's The Gizmos EP. Tim Carroll joined the new Gizmos to round out the quartet that recorded the 1980 Hoosier Hysteria split LP with Dow Jones & The Industrials. Since 2000, Gulcher has reissued all the Gizmos vinyl plus outtakes, live and related recordings, and covers comps on CDs and tapes, including the previously unreleased 1981 NYC Demos with Robbie Wise.
