THE GRAPE AND THE GRAIN began in 2012 as a solo project for Daniel Grimsland (bassist for Woodstock, NY's progressive rock band ‘3’ — listen to The End Is Begun (Special Edition) ). Seeking to challenge himself, Grimsland wrote, produced, and performed the entirety of his debut album Better Keep Digging in 2013. Grimsland and some close friends and musicians then recorded and self released the sophomore self titled album The Grape and the Grain in Woodstock, NY at Applehead Recording (Coheed and Cambria, Rich Robinson, Bad Brains).
Grimsland then recognized a need for road ready musicians and collaborators in order to advance. He called on longtime friends and rockers: Daniel Marc - Guitar, Mo Kelly - Bass, and Steven Markota ( Nightmares For A Week, Geezer) - Drums to join him in his project.
The Grape and the Grain has quickly grown from a "side-project" to it's own hard working rock-solid establishment with an enthusiastic core following.
Recently the band has returned to Woodstock, NY to begin work on a new release. For their third LP, the band chose to work at The Isokon Recording Studio with owner/operator D. James Goodwin (Craig Finn, Devo, Murder By Death) who has helped push their sound to a new and exciting place.
