Matt Arbogast started The Gunshy in 2002. Since then, the project has released seven full length albums, a collaborative ep with AJJ, toured the country about thirty times, and has had about 50 different members. The project has evolved into a more conventional band over the last 4-5 years, with its current lineup writing and recording the last few albums together.
2016's "Porterhouse" album is perhaps the turning point of the band's sound. Recorded at Dial Back Sound in Water Valley, MS, (owned by Matt Patton of Drive-By Truckers) and produced by Andrew Bryant (Water Liars), the album is a dark, heavy depiction of an unsettled life.
The band's most recent album, "Undefeated", was just released on July 27, 2018. The album is being released for free, with all proceeds going non-profit organizations helping those in need. Written, recorded, mixed and mastered by the band at Arbogast's 8AM studio in Chicago, the album is the first to feature songwriting contributions from The Gunshy's Ryan Troy Ford and Colin Miller.
