The Guy Smilee Group is the high-energy alternative rock project of veteran songwriter and 2x ISC Semi-Finalist Michael Konick.
Drawing on decades of performing and songwriting across Northeast Ohio, Las Vegas and Nashville, Michael writes 100% of his own lyrics—often finding humor in the things the rest of us are thinking but probably shouldn't say out loud.
His musical journey spans traditional studio recording, including early work with Grammy-winning producer and Juice Newton guitarist Johnny Pierce, to today's frontier of AI-assisted production. Michael directs, arranges and engineers his songs, using modern technology to bring fully realized productions to life while keeping the songwriting unmistakably human.
The result: hook-driven alternative rock with vintage grit, big guitars and unapologetic attitude—heard in songs like “I Can't Stand.”
