The Hissyfits

Once upon a time—1996, NYC—two rockrgrrls joined forces to create catchy, clever pop-punk anthems. Lalena Fisher (Suzi Blade) and Holly Ann Jacobs (Princess) christened themselves The Hissyfits and released two cassettes while playing shows around the Lower East Side. Before they knew it, their first 7-inch single “Something Wrong” was declared “Pop—when it’s perfect!” by legendary rock critic Greil Marcus.

“The Hissyfits rule.” (KERRANG!)

The duo’s earliest recordings have been digitally released in two energetic volumes called PRE-HISSTORIC. And their first full-length WISH is also now streamable; this version has the previously-unheard, heartfelt “Not My Valentine”, which was later re-recorded by Lalena’s band The Color Guard and praised in Entertainment Weekly.

“The perfect summer-love soundtrack.” (CMJ)

The Hissyfits’ sophomore album, the “subconsciously powerful” LETTERS FROM FRANK (2001) has been streaming since 2010. And from the vault, the band's previously unreleased stellar final album GOODBYE and the wistful LOVE NOTES are now available online.

“Romance as something doomed and precious but enlivened by little flicks of the knife.” (The Village Voice)

Holly, who lives in Bucks County PA, will be releasing solo music soon. Lalena lives in Austin TX, where she plays in The Mothermold, a “metallic art punk” duo with her teenage daughter; their debut Flesh of My Flesh was released in 2023.

“The Hissyfits are for fans of great songs.” (Vinyl A Go-Go)
