Belfast 5-piece the Holsteins were formed in March 1992. The band are Niamh Rooney - vocals, Davy Burton - lead guitar, Pete Major - rhythm guitar, Brian McNamara - drums (all original members) plus Chris Birt on bass who joined the group in the summer of 1996.
The band were signed by German independent record company Bullet! Records, who released “Angel Train”, a vinyl only LP in 1994 (John Peel played a track on his show) and “Pop-Gun Riot” in 1995.
These releases were followed by “Sub Rosa” (1997) and Dodge the Ground” (2003) as well as appearances on numerous compilations in Northern Ireland, England and Germany.
The band split in 2005, but still gig occasionally.
