The Homie Chill

Last updated: 2 hours ago

The Homie Chill, born Anthony Frondarina III in West Covina, California, and raised in Victorville, developed his passion for rap at an early age. Growing up, he was surrounded by the sounds of West Coast Gangster Rap, with Ice Cube often blasting through his father’s car speakers. Alongside that, his parents filled the air with timeless oldies — from Brenton Wood to The Temptations — creating a soundtrack that blended street grit with soulful nostalgia.

In his teenage years, Chill began to shape his own musical identity. Lil Wayne became a major influence, inspiring him to write and rap while still in middle school. But it was during his freshman year of high school, following the loss of his Nana, that music took on a deeper meaning. Around that time, Kid Cudi released Man on the Moon, an album that profoundly impacted Chill and encouraged him to channel his own life experiences into his work. As he puts it, “Lil Wayne made me wanna be like Lil Wayne, Kid Cudi made me want to be me.”

His style also carries the influence of other inspirations — J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Nipsey Hussle, Mac Miller, Russ — while delivering a voice that is distinctly his own.
