The Jamaica Band was born in the blazing July heat of 2014, when the Blue Pie Records crew landed in Montego Bay to film new episodes of Reggae Central TV. Led by Shemori BoShae and welcomed at the airport by the unstoppable DC Cornick of DJ Central TV, the team quickly realised this wasn’t going to be a routine production — it was the start of something unforgettable.
During a rare three-day break, Shemori organised a studio session in Ocho Rios with reggae icons Native Wayne (Wayne Jobson), Brian Jobson, and rising artist Josh Young. When Josh was delayed, the crew — never ones to waste a good groove — jumped into creating a new anthem for Jamaica. With Wayne’s guidance, the team’s energy, and Jeffrey’s powerhouse vocals, “We Love Jamaica” came together in one inspired session.
The track sat untouched until December 2021, when producer Gabe Rizza (Key Loch) revived the original stems. Digging through the 2014 recordings, Gabe uncovered the forgotten sax parts that became the track’s soul. After weeks of mixing and shaping, he passed it to U.S. mixer Tom Polce, who delivered the final version now streaming worldwide.
The Jamaica Band is a celebration of reggae culture and collaboration, uniting Damien Reilly, Wayne Jobson, Brian Jobson, Josh Young, Shemori BoShae Guin, Gabe Rizza, Tom Polce, and Chris Garcia. Released globally through Blue Pie Records USA and Blue Pie Publishing, The Jamaica Band continues to honour Jamaica with music that uplifts and unites.
