The Kodaks was an indie-rock / post-punk band in Detroit formed by Adam Fitzgerald in 2008. The band had a revolving cast of members, with Fitzgerald heading the outfit and making the recordings himself, at Battle Tapes Studios in Nashville or Brooksfield Gentlemen’s Club Studios in Detroit. Until Jeff Yateman joined full-time in 2011, all songs were written and put together by Fitzgerald, who then assembled whatever musicians he could to play the songs live.

The two main-stays in The Kodaks were Adam Fitzgerald Quells of Shady Groves (vocals, guitars, bass, keyboards) & Jeff Yateman Jemmi Hazeman (drums, guitars, vocals, production) - members also included Adam "Bobby" Laidlaw (guitars, backing vocals), Kevin Cleveland (bass), Matt Caswell (guitar), Casey Jones (bass), Mitch Green (drums), Dylan Caron (guitar) & Mathew Hofman (bass), amongst others.

The finalized line-up before the band split was Adam Fitzgerald, Jeff Yateman, Dylan Caron & Mat Hofman. These are the musicians on The Kodaks’ 2012 debut album “Night Surfing” - with Yateman the only other member to write material and sing besides Fitzgerald. Both Fitzgerald and Yateman also split songwriting duties on a second album that was recorded but scrapped, leaving only the long lost single “The Jungle” - released recently alongside the re-release of “Night Surfing” by Underflow Records.
