Founded in 2015 as a "THE LA HUSTLE", a touring and recording act, TLAH began as the creative vehicle for singer-songwriter Ken Goldstein. As a child, Goldstein immersed himself in the vibrant sounds of the legendary Maxwell Street blues musicians and trained at the Old Town School of Folk Music with legends like Pete Seeger, Arlo Guthrie, and Ella Jenkins, absorbing the spirit of folk, blues, and storytelling that would define his songwriting voice.
TLAH’s music is built on "Dempsey Blues"—a signature fusion of gritty Chicago blues, laid-back California folk, and the lyrical craftsmanship of 1960s British songwriters. The phrase "Dempsey Blues" came from producer Don Was, when Goldstein and a host of legendary artists began laying down some of Ken's songs at Capitol Records in 2013. From this foundation, the TLAH's sound evolved, blending roots traditions with modern sensibilities and the collective voices of musicians around the world.
In 2019, Goldstein, along with collaborators Jason Reid and Jeremy Nelson, transformed THE LA HUSTLE into a creative collective called, TLAH, and focused on writing original music and collaborating with a diverse roster of artists from around the world. Today, TLAH works with both emerging voices and established performers tied to major music acts, creating songs that are deeply rooted yet forward-thinking.
The TLAH Creative Collective is proudly represented by BMG Production Music worldwide.
