The Last Aurochs are an international gathering of musicians based in Sydney, Australia. Grounded in oral traditions of continental Europe, tunes from France, Portugal, Spain, Ireland, Scotland and Australia are reinvented.
The band name comes from the aurochs, the wild ancestor of domesticated cattle. It roamed most of Europe freely for centuries, until it was hunted to extinction. Their music creates natural connections across borders, just like the old grazing land of the aurochs.
