The Low Cards are a rock band from Providence RI. At first listen you notice a strong blues influence and stripped-down arrangements reminiscent of The Black keys or The White Stripes, but, as you dive deeper you discover they have a sound all their own.
The songs are lyric driven held together by the upright bass of Brian Jablonski and the drums of Matt Slobogan. They cut the entire record live at Machines with Magnets in Pawtucket RI over a three-day period with the goal of capturing the intensity of their live performances.
Not only did they achieve their goal on this debut self-titled record but set a prime example of what a three-piece rock & roll band can accomplish. Rock & roll, swamp rock, roots rock… The Low Cards have been described as many things, one thing’s for sure, they rock.
