The Madden Brothers

Established in 2011 as a side project for <a href="spotify:artist:5aYyPjAsLj7UzANzdupwnS">Good Charlotte</a>'s <a href="spotify:artist:1Mj01W9PVDoVh7uXqkX0Kj">Joel</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:6l5sHFQQoaknd4dEepYQgJ">Benji Madden</a>, the Madden Brothers allowed the siblings room to flex their musical muscles in ways that their pop-punk meal ticket band hadn't. The group issued a free mixtape in 2011 titled Before, Volume 1 that featured a slew of guest appearances from the likes of the <a href="spotify:artist:1AWNf5CLnHH4oM1hcHiVeV">Cool Kids</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:137W8MRPWKqSmrBGDBFSop">Wiz Khalifa</a>, Machine Gun Kelly, and <a href="spotify:artist:0uFc6StTmJBvdHPZFDkdJy">Casey Veggies</a>, but it wasn't until 2012, when the duo began working with producer <a href="spotify:artist:2RdwBSPQiwcmiDo9kixcl8">Pharrell Williams</a>, that the schematics for a proper studio album began to emerge. Though the plans for the project with <a href="spotify:artist:2RdwBSPQiwcmiDo9kixcl8">Williams</a> eventually fell through, the brothers continued to work on material, and in 2014 issued the summery pop single "We Are Done."
