Based in Los Angeles/Vancouver. The Matchstick Skeletons came out of the grave swinging. With their debut single “Told Ya So” reaching a quarter million streams and going top 20, the match was lit.
The band was founded by singer Neu Mannas, and drummer Matty Carolei. Midway through a decade on the road they made a record at the legendary Rockfield studio in Wales. Following up the first independent #1 in Canadian rock history, on the piano from Bohemian Rhapsody, the drum set from OK Computer, and in the same courtyard the Oasis boys beat each other’s asses with cricket bats, they shared a look and knew exactly what they were going to do. Walk away from a major label deal, and become The Matchstick Skeletons.
Joining up with Ryan Stead and Cole Friesen, renowned for their live performance, members have toured with Guns n’ Roses, Alice In Chains, Shania Twain, Deep Purple, Theory of a Deadman, Buckcherry, & most recently, The Glorious Sons in the US where they were when the world shut down.
When COVID hit, singer Neu Mannas went full Walter White into the California desert for months with his dog, a bunch of instruments, and the band’s RV to finish their debut LP “Change The Channel.”
The single “I’m Right Here” was written/recorded with Brett from The Glorious Sons. Having both worked in fancy studios around the world, they figured why not do this half cut with a handheld mic in Brett’s kitchen in Hamilton. It was honest and straight from the guts.
