The Melting Minds is an occult musical group channeling a sound cult shaped by chaos and order through psychedelic rituals, cross-genre experiments, and a burning devotion to their dryland roots. Formed in mid-2020, they are Wonosari’s most notorious cult, raised on myth and quietly defiant.
What began as raw garage noise became a movement of mind, sound, and rebellion. Their lineup crystallized into the Mind V: Slinky Bones, Ahmad Tubagus, Restu Prabawa, Marcell Yoga, and Gratia Simanjuntak. With four members born in Wonosari, they now stand firm, entering a phase of inner calm and outer chaos.
Their debut album Alternate Universe (2022) earned a Best Rock Album nomination at the AMI Awards. With singles like The Snake and Possessing The Witch, it became a cult artifact: loud, theatrical, and possessed.
Onstage, they’ve become more than a band. From headlining Jogjarockarta to The Origin (Live at Artjog ‘24), a rebirth ritual under Frogsrec. They stormed Jakarta with Possessing The West, ending in a wild set on Synchronize Radio.
Their defining moment came at IST Festival 2023, where women led the pit and chaos reigned. From Gunungkidul’s dry soil to Jakarta’s core, they brought the same fire to Pestapora 2024, leaving no myth unburned.
“Too rich and kaleidoscopic to be boxed into any single genre.”
Nuran Wibisono, Tirto id
“Carrying the torch from The Byrds to King Gizzard, fused with mysticism and Javanese folklore.”
Ardyan M. Erlangga, Vice Indonesia
