2025 marks 15 years since Torontoist referred to The Mighty Rhino as “a legend in the making”, and 12 since Billy Danze called him “one of the best things ever to happen to hip-hop.” Now, with the release of two amazing new albums – his fourth solo LP, To Relieve The Sorrow-Laden Heart, and a duo album with the great Skizza entitled Northern Flavalistic Metropass Muzik – The Mighty Rhino is proving anew that he’s exactly as incredible as his supporters say he is.
His legacy is already extraordinary. 2020’s The Royal Falcon EP, 2019’s A Joy Which Nothing Can Erase, and 2018’s We Will No Longer Retreat Into Darkness all won rapturous critical praise. 2011’s He Whom The Beat Sets Free Is Free Indeed earned him props from the International Songwriting Competition and the Toronto Independent Music Awards. He’s worked with, opened for, and/or been co-signed by a staggering lineup of great rappers and journalists – Method Man & Redman, Shad, Prince Po, A.G., Tragedy Khadafi, Guilty Simpson, Jeru The Damaja, Masta Ace, Witchdoctor, Big Mike, Young Bleed, Chali 2na, Brother Ali, Thirstin Howl III, Rittz, El Da Sensei, Pacewon, Young Zee, Nardwuar, John Darnielle, Jay Smooth, and more. And through it all, his stage presence has remained as Maclean’s put it in 2007: “Electric.” It’s no wonder his music is so widely loved! Listen and find out why!
