"The Morbidly Obese Men" or more commonly known "MOM" are a Punk Rock band from Newcastle Australia. Formed in October 2017 by Singer Lochlan Beckley and Guitarist Jalen Forty. They began writing and demoing a handful of songs, before being joined by Drummer Matt Rankin early 2018. By February 2018 they went on to release their first demo "Got You Covered" accompanied by a music video. Filmed and Directed by Newcastle Rap Duo "Krowned Kids".
By April 2018 they released their second demo "The Sad Song", with plans on releasing a 4 track EP in the near future, but complications arose when Matt left the band for personal reasons. By this point in time "MOM" had started to get a following on social media, and had shows booked and more planned for the future, Jalen Decided to reach out to old friend and Drummer Blake Baker Alessandro, who had just been in the middle of moving from Noosa QLD, and asked if he could fill in.
By late April, after a couple shows, Lochlan & Jalen decided to ask Blake to join permanently to continue performing around Newcastle, Sydney & Central Coast, In Early June they decided to go into the studio with Producer Darcy Long to start working on more music. While in the studio "MOM" continued to perform with bands such as <a href="spotify:artist:7kwmB3DR3LMeqYk5R3ML55" data-name="Halfwait">Halfwait</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:4t2I9W5cYLXQnzhXk3Te49" data-name="Flicker">Flicker</a> & <a href="spotify:artist:2oHpoP6lR2tzSSGsmy3Rai" data-name="Fiveash">Fiveash</a>.
October 2018, The Band Released their first studio single "Soulless" with the announcement of there Self-titled 8 track to be released on the 24/10/2018.
