The People's Thieves is an alternative-indie-pop-rock band out of Salt Lake City, Utah. They independently released their second record, "Tunnels" on August 20th, 2021, peaking at #7 on the iTunes Alternative chart and #45 overall. Their first independent record, "Voices", was released in 2017 and peaked at #31 on the iTunes Alternative chart. The band is made up of cousins Jackson and Dallan Turnbull as co-leads, and Brent Richards on drums.
Jackson and Dallan decided to start the band after writing their first song together at the end of 2014. The only thing missing was a drummer. Jackson spotted Brent on the treadmill at the gym, air-drumming as he ran, and made an immediate connection with him based on a band tattoo of Brents that he recognized. Brent's old band had just broken up so the timing was perfect.
Their music is primarily focused on their experiences with depression and anxiety. They hope that by sharing their experiences and music, they may help others in their own battles with mental health.
