Prairie Fire:
1 dash Tabasco sauce
1 oz. Bourbon Whiskey
The initial burn that grabs you by the throat is cut by a vinegar note and you’re left feeling warm and ready for whatever good time lays ahead. Just like the music of The Prairie Fire.
The Prairie Fire was formed in early in 2017 by Jonboy and Will after pair of particularly nasty breakups. Jonboy, coming from the clubs and honky tonks of Austin, TX, wanted to start a band influenced by some of his favorite Alt-Country acts of the late 90s and early 2000’s: The Old 97s, Whiskeytown, and Uncle Tupelo. With drummer, Will Paulson, the two recruited pop punk stalwarts guitarist, Paul Pingree, and bassist and backup vocalist, Davey Stock. These two major influences form the basis of The Prairie Fire’s raucous sound. With the lineup complete and the goals of doing a little drinking and killing it live, they set about crafting their self-titled debut LP.
While The Prairie Fire (2019) is definitely a heartbreak album, it avoids wallowing and always strives to be the life of the party because, even if you’re bummed out, there’s no reason you can’t have a good time.
