It was in the middle of the summer lost to Covid restrictions of 2020 that bassist Jaap Milikan teamed up with his best friend and guitarist Stijn Custers to record three songs he’d written in his bedroom studio and form The Psyche Idyllics. This first single guided listeners through themes ranging from self-deprecation to psychedelic bliss, accompanied by catchy guitar lines inspired by the post-punk sound of Joy Division and The Cure in one song, but latching onto a more psychedelic reverb-drenched sound not unlike that of Tame Impala and Slowdive later on.

No matter the theme, these idyllic minds will make sure there’s always plenty of room to lose yourself in their soundscapes and space out completely, but also offer plenty of moments of danceable introspection. With their first single out of the way and both of them now writing songs, who knows what’s to come?
