The Psychics are a music collective founded in 2010 by Jerome X in Bloomington, Indiana. Formerly known as Jerome & the Psychics, the first few years of the group featured a rotating cast of musicians, like Triptides Glenn Brigmann and Josh Menashe, Proto Idiot's Andrew Anderson, and Thee Open Sex frontwoman, Rachel Weidner. The group cut their teeth by playing basement shows and touring around the midwest, hitting notable rock and roll festivals and whichever town they could get a show and a floor to sleep on. In 2014 the band split due to a cross-continental move by frontman Jerome X back to his homeland of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
After some time apart, Jerome moved back stateside and the group of Nick Harley (guitar), Kate Haldrup (drums), and Jerome X reformed, started writing again, and moved from Bloomington to Nashville in the fall of 2015. Here they found a new community, a new sound, and their fourth member and bassist Jay Smith. They released their first EP, 4x3 under their new moniker, The Psychics, in April 2016.
