What is a Reen? If The Reen had a penny for every time he’s been asked that, he’d have about a Benjamin. The singer-songwriter hailing from Laredo, TX was influenced from early childhood by 60’s vinyl, 50’s rock n’ roll remasters on cassette, grunge on CD, and embarrassing pop downloads on mp3. Whether performing solo or backed by his band, The Renegades (“Archie named his band after himself. I figured I could sneak my name in there somehow,” he says with a chuckle), The Reen delivers a dynamic and heart-filled performance. “A Reen is me,” he explains. “Born Rene, called Reenee (rhymes with beanie) by family and friends, and The Reen by me, because adding ‘the’ to your name automatically makes you cool. Like The Fonz.”
