The Resurrection Sorrow

New York City's the Resurrection Sorrow subscribe to an intentionally raw vision of heavy metal's classic musical trademarks, adorned with stoner and sludge accents. Created in the mid-2000s by frontman Alex Dementia (ex-<a href="spotify:artist:6IsSP3qzKVJziwtHkmKuRl">After Dark</a>), bassist/guitarist Alex Coelho (<a href="spotify:artist:7gehv8jRJraKk8xYnOxnKo">Tides Within</a>, ex-<a href="spotify:artist:5MNIL8uuJnAytY0RbwOcz7">Malstrom</a>), and drummer Louie Gasparro (<a href="spotify:artist:3EVzblmlRt3zPoB982Gr0G">Murphy's Law</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:6iddxx5Vs17BbJz8gCkDQv">Blitzspeer</a>, etc.), the group's 2009 debut album, Hour of the Wolf, showcased occult-laced lyrics choked out by hoarse vocals, grime-covered guitars not averse to copious melodies, and a powerful, clearly all analog rhythm section.
