The Rise of the Phoenix, born David S. Whitham Jr., created his stage name from the story of the mythical bird, the phoenix. The suffering and death of the phoenix resonates with The Rise of the Phoenix, having endured years of drug abuse, anxiety, OCD, ICD, CCD and depression. The phoenix and he overcomes those tribulations by rising from the ashes and resurrecting into a better being through music and fortitude.
