Rob Duncan (Guitar & Vox) and Steve Roberts (Drums, Vox and Samples) are the Bristol/Gloucester duo forming the crushing post-doom band, The Road. Fans have compared their sound to Sumac, Bongripper, Mogwai and Cult of Luna, and have always commented on the sheer power of their music live and on record.
Based in the South West of England, The Road emerged live in May 2018 in The Mother’s Ruin, Bristol - this debut show drew attention from the local Bristol scene and they have since been invited to support some of their heroes: Boss Keloid, Ohhms, Conjurer, Pijn, Zeus!, Valerian Swing, Memory of Elephants, and Sugar Horse to name a few, in just their first year.
Their genesis came long before, starting as a bit of a joke on a long traffic-filled journey back from a show with their
previous band: what if they formed a two piece that used sounds of the motorway and traffic to capture the absolute monolithic drudgery of being on ‘The Road’? Luckily, they decided to stick with instruments, but their desire to create huge slabs of noise grew and they have created something they couldn’t be more proud of. Now, instead of grumbling at the prospect, The Road are looking forward to travelling and bringing their noise to new eyes and ears.
With a sound that is seemingly impossible for 2 people to make, their live shows are gathering a reputation for being a truly awesome experience.
