Originally formed in 2007 in Copenhagen by Seb Dam (vocals, rhythm guitar), The Sardives was soon joined by brother Kris (vocals, rhythm guitar) and Tobias Ahnfelt (keyboard, vocals). Jacob Lawaetz (bass), Mads Michelsen/Julien Risbourg (drums) and Mikael Hultengren (lead guitar) were quick to follow.
Having been inspired by 60s vocal harmony bands like Beach Boys and Beatles, 90s rock likewise sparked creativity.
What She Feels was recorded in 2007 with musician and producer Nicolai Haugbyrd. The song became popular on Myspace and encouraged the band to record more songs and play gigs in the Copenhagen area. The recordings that followed were Bubbles and Ok Alright, both written and sung by Kristoffer Dam.
Seb wrote We Can Work It Out in 2008. This song along with the others mentioned in this bio were noticed by Danish music magazine Gaffa in the summer of 2008 and resulted in the band winning the magazine's MÃ¥nedens Demo (demo of the month) competition. On top of this the band was invited to play at the International Pop Overthrow in Liverpool the same year.
The band was temporarily discontinued in 2009.
Kris, Tobias and Mikael have been busy with other musical projects since 2009 - Like My Kind, Dansvingerne - but only in 2024 did Seb become active again by playing small gigs, writing new songs as well as remastering and releasing the songs from 2007 - 2009.
The single Anniina (written and sung by Tobias Ahnfelt) is brand new - release date 1st January 2025.
