The Schenk Family

The Schenk Family is a musically gifted family from the Dutch fishing town of Urk, consisting of the well-known musicians Jacob and Gerben Schenk, joined by family members Albertje, Rebecca, and Matthias. Since 2020, they have combined their talents to form a music group that hosts a livestream from their living room each year around Christmas.

After two successful streams, they decided to do something new in 2022. For the first time, they recorded an album, A Christmas with The Schenk Family. Everything was done at home, in the middle of summer. The recording, the instrumentals, the five-part harmonies, and even the mixing and artwork were all handled by the family themselves.

In 2024, they released the song "Mah Nah Khee”, together with Pia de Vries. A cry of grief, born from the untimely death of Pia's son, Klaas-Wouter. The song is expressed in a soul language, through phonetic sounds. This project gave the family a deep sense of purpose, as the song profoundly touches the hearts of those who hear it.
