“We are Sara and Alex, and we met by throwing punches at each other in a gym in Rome. A few years later, after a jam session and a few too many drinks, we decided to form The Fucking Shalalalas. A mix of folk and indie rock sung in English, like many bands that inspire us. So, what are you waiting for? Sing another fucking shalalala!”
Alex's guitar and Sara's violin, although distinct, harmoniously merged to create the Fucking Shalalalas. Their first EP was released in 2013, followed in 2015 by There are 3 las in Shalalalas, an acoustic album produced by Bassa Fedeltà and described by the band as “dream-folk.” After touring across Italy and Europe they landed at the Primavera Sound Festival in Barcelona.
In 2016, their collaboration with Endemol began: the song “A Week” was chosen as the theme for the TV series L’Allieva, which aired in prime time on RAI 1 until 2020 and is now available on Prime Video in multiple countries.
In 2017, they took part in Sanremo Giovani with “Difficile,” their first song in Italian. What followed were two intense years of live shows and the release of their second album, Boom, in 2018.
In 2020, they released the EP Silly Vain Details, featuring new songs included in the third season of L’Allieva.
In 2022, they dropped the single “Stay,” and in 2024 they returned with “Let’s Shalalala,” a collaboration with Bengala Fire. 2025 kicked off with the single “It’s Time,” anticipating the vinyl release of Just the Way We Do, available from May 23.
