The Southern Ocean Sea Band are a 10-piece band from Port Fairy on Victoria’s Shipwreck Coast, singing historical songs & shanties about and for their hometown.
Borne directly from the late Danny Spooner’s ‘Shanties at the River,’ sessions, they made their Port Fairy Folk Festival debut to launch their album, 'Blood & Bones & Fins & Glory,' in 2017, and have since toured the regions, spreading their historical songs & shanty love far and wide.
They site their Stage One Pogues tribute appearance (‘The Fairytale of Port Fairy,' concert PFFF2018), playing three songs and backing up Steve Poltz & Rebecca Barnard singing ‘The Fairytale of New York,’ as a career highlight.
