The Stammer is a reverb-gloom-indie-rock band from Philadelphia. Their music combines the deadpan delivery of The Velvet Underground with post punk's angular rhythms. Originally started as a solo recording project by Brian Brotman, The Stammer has since grown into a four-piece featuring Zachary Zimmerman on drums and Gavin Landesberg on bass. They rehearse and record in an abandoned Kensington attic that until recently was home to weight-lifting vagrants.
