The Subordinates play rock and roll. The meeting of Lachlan Mcgregor and Spencer Trapani was voted 2nd most important moments in Australian music history, after the meeting of George Young and Harry Vanda.
Meeting in January 2022 at a DIY punk gig, the two set out a time to jam the next day. After a few lineup changes over the next couple months, The Subordinates began to write and record songs themselves without a set in stone group of members. Their first single I Care a Little Bit (But Not That Much) / Oh, Sweet Vanilla was recorded in Lachlan Mcgregors bedroom on a thursday night after school. Written by Spencer Trapani and help from Lachlan Mcgregor, the two songs were recorded with additional hands from Orlando Benzon-Tuke and Harrison Mcgregor. The songs were produced by their old swimming teacher Rufus Dingleheiger, and created a sound that has 100% definitely been heard before, but not for a while.
The Subordinates may be something special, but they could easily fall apart. We’re waiting to see if they crash the car they built in their sleep.
