In the winter of 2005, composers Erik Lindestad (Wild at Heart, The Land Below, Lidandets Rike) and Robin af Ekenstam (Wild at Heart, Barbarisms) found themselves in a poorly insulated summer cabin with no other amusements than a table hockey game and a Zoom MRS1266 MultiTrack recorder.
Their girlfriends had left them for South America and the septic tank froze and backfired all over the bathroom floor.
This was the starting point of The Super Orchestra. It was on this thin layer of frozen shit and heartbreak that their friendship turned into brotherhood, and sweet music emerged.
”We are standing still before moving on” wasn´t released until 2011, and with no label backing them, the duo had little to no expectation of finding sympathetic listeners. By freakish luck, the song ”Lay me down” got picked up by Sony Ericsson and included in every single phone they shipped out for a couple of years. It became apparent that a modest yet passionate audience was now willing to seek them out.
If the debut album was built around acoustic guitars, soft vocals, pump organ and the subtle rhythm of kitchen utensils, the follow up ”Start Over” from 2012 was a more streamlined effort with a distinctly electronic sound. The single ”Jealous” was released through 100 Songs, alongside Miriam Bryants debut single ”Finders, Keepers”.
Then life happened and The Super Orchestra went into hibernation.
Eight years later, they emerge with their new single “Young Love”.
