The Tideline is a rock band from Aachen, Germany, founded in 2009. At the heart of the band are the Songgwriters Julia Pauly and Bernard Duensing, whose deep, intimate, and at times, tension-filled friendship and creative partnership have been the driving forces behind The Tideline's evocative music.
Julia and Bernard's connection began not through music but as a romantic couple. Their relationship evolved into a profound partnership that eventually found expression in their shared passion for songwriting.
Their versatility is showcased in their debut album, Oceanic Rock, released in 2011 on their independent label, Oceanic Rock Records. The album won the German Rock & Pop Award for Best Rock Album of the Year in 2011.
A defining moment for The Tideline was their 2012 performance at Aachen’s "September Special," where they played to a crowd of over 4,000 people. This significant event highlighted their growing popularity and ability to connect with large audiences. That same year, they played at the "Olgas Rock" festival in Oberhausen, performing in front of 37,000 attendees, further establishing their reputation as a compelling live act.
Currently, The Tideline is on hiatus as the band members focus on personal commitments, including raising their growing families. However, the door remains open for a return, and the music they’ve created continues to resonate with their fans, who appreciate the band’s authentic sound and the deep connection between Julia and Bernard.
