The Tor was formed by Jim Wade (guy in the hat) Chris Dorety (on the far right) and Art Dorety (middle left). Chris and Art, mostly Chris, had pestered Jim for a while to get some of his songs together and finally do a recording. In late 2015 Jim finally complied and brought out White Wolf. An old tune inspired by Black Sabbath. Jim had the music and Chris wrote the lyrics and sang on that one. After a Christmas break things got rolling in 2016 or rather moved sure and steady. Jim brought out his words and basic music to our private studio and we tracked everything song by song over the course of the year. Chris and I (Art) helped with arrangements and added our own input with our instruments. Chris played bass throughout as well as electric, acoustic and 12 string guitars and backing and other vocals. I played organ, piano and any synth sounds as well as did the recording, mixing and mastering. We kept this all in house.
As we approached the end it was time to replace electronic drums with the real thing so I called up long time friend Rich Berends (on the far left) of Mastermind fame (heavy prog rock of the 90s) and currently main drummer with the Grammy winning Jimmy Sturr band. Rich's playing filled things out and after some tweaks and weeks of mixing the CD was released in April 2017.
The result is what you hear here. An interesting collection of Blues, Blues Rock, Rock and Roll, and late 60s early 70s inspired rock. Enjoy!
